Omaha mover, I-Go Van and Storage, discusses new ban on cell phone use for moving and storage drivers

Please see attached article regarding a possible ban on cell phone use for commercial truck drivers. It is going a little farther than what would have been assumed by people in the moving and storage industry. The first ban the FMCSA issued was to not allow texting by drivers. Now this new proposed rule will prevent a driver from reaching for, dialing, or holding a cell phone at any time. Many drivers and carriers are questioning whether this is going to far. Drivers need to communicate with their customers and employer on a constant basis so banning from the cell phone in the cab may be stretching it. In the end, this rule would eliminate a lot of the distraction for the driver. We will see how this comes out. See article below….
